Program agreement between the main associations of industrial enterprises of machine sorting and recycling of plastic waste.
The increasingly strict EU norms on sustainability pushed three industrial associations from the field of machine sorting and recycling of plastic materials to sign a common agreement concerning the improvement of national standards to increase the total quality of recycled materials. The program and intention agreement was signed by Assorimap, the association of independent recyclers of plastic materials, and by Assosele and Unionplast, the main associations of industrial enterprises that work with the machine sorting and recycling of plastic materials. These associations took a shared stance and proposed common initiatives in order to follow the stream of the circular economy currently promoted by the European Union.
Assorimap president Walter Regis explained: “The EU Circular Economy Package imposes new responsibilities on associated enterprises and increases the quality requirements for products derived from recycled materials, the so-called second life products. The associations of waste sorting and recycling enterprises are aware of their new role and the positive impact they can have on the environment and the Italian economy. The national system, institutions, and the creation of a market sustainable both for the economy and for the environment necessitate new production standards, which can be obtained only through a shared effort in the recycling chain”.
The three associations also agreed to present a common list for the upcoming renewal of the Corepla Board for what concerns the representatives of their category.
