The event was attended by over 105 thousand visitors in 4 days, including many foreigners. New plans for the 2017 edition.
Over 105 thousand visitors, including more than 11 thousand from foreign countries: these figures alone say it all about the success of the twentieth edition of Ecomondo, the four-day fair at Rimini’s Fiera dedicated to circular economy.
Circular economy is the new driver for the development of a planet that seeks to revolutionize its ecological footprint. Italy plays a key role in this field at a European level, as proven by the success of the event in Rimini.
“In the last twenty years we have been faithful witnesses of the extraordinary performance of Italian green economy – says Lorenzo Cagnoni, President of Italian Exhibition Group, the new organization born from the fusion of Rimini’s and Vicenza’s fairs – The event showcased Italian enterprises that are examples of international excellence, and was an occasion to create new opportunities for business, relations and high-level knowledge, as demonstrated by the presence of Government and EU representatives. Our next challenge is to export the Italian excellence abroad: after an experience in Brazil, the 2017 edition of Ecomondo will go to China”.
The many initiatives organized within the event show impressive figures: over 1,200 enterprises in the 113,000 sq m of Rimini’s Fair; hundreds of seminars, starting with the Green Economy States General, with a thousand speakers; 550 buyers involved in 4,500 business meetings; 520 accredited journalists; to date, 163 million media contacts thanks to the great attention given to the event by general and technical newspapers; huge echo on social media – 10,476,538 occurrences for the hashtags #ecomondo, #keyenergy, and #cittasostenibile; over 2,500 tweets; +548% likes on Facebook during the event; 120 exceptional stops at the Rimini-Fiera station organized by Italian railways.
“At Ecomondo we discussed the technical materials of the EU Commission – commented Fabio Fava, head of the Scientific-Technical Committee – Moreover, an Italian national plan was drafted for the development of bioeconomy”.
“The renewable energy and energy efficiency operators that gathered at Key Energy represent a dynamic and fast growing world – said Giovanni Silvestrini, President of the Scientific Committee – Enterprises need to contribute to increase the use of green energy for at least 50% of their energy needs, and achieve new energy targets”.
Now it is time to think about the 2017 edition. Save the date: Rimini’s Fiera will host the new Ecomondo fair from Tuesday, 7th to Friday, 10th of November 2017.
