At Ecomondo, high quality recycling meets creative inventions and practical experiments.
Ecomondo celebrates its 20th birthday with an exhibit dedicated to circular economy. The exhibit, called “Ex novo materials in the circular economy”, is hosted in the hall of the south gate under the big dome. ExNovoMaterials, of which Recycling Point is the proud media partner, showcases the change that’s disrupting the current economy: a revolution in the way the manufacturing world thinks about materials.
As the name suggests, the heart of this exhibit is the concept of material, which has been revolutionized by the new circular economy culture. Materials that until yesterday were nothing more than waste are now playing a new role in providing manufacturing plants with reliable supply streams, while industrial biomaterials have found a constantly evolving raw material source in agricultural by-products.
The exhibit tells the story of the ExNovoMaterials in three stages. At first, visitors are met with the representation of the machine that today produces new industrial materials. Paper, aluminium, glass, plastic, wood, steel, mineral oil, rubber, compost, and bioplastic: in the maze organized around the Packaging Plaza, each material presents itself and its future potential. The centre of the maze is a space dedicated to packaging, one of the fields where the circularity of materials from waste to new products fully comes to light. The second step of the exhibit, represented by the Towers of Testimonials, shows the growing economic reality that thrives thanks to these new materials. Finally, the Experimentation and Innovation space gathers some examples of enterprises that are exploring the trends of the future.
Through a journey made of digital and visual contents, the exhibit aims at communicating to the visitors the full impact of the innovations that are currently happening in the economy: a visionary journey through present and future to tell a story of potentialities and applications, painting a future where the circular economy draws its resources from itself and so reduces the overall impact on natural resources.
